Tanzanite cabochon earrings on silk structured 22k gold oval with 18k back post

Petra Class’s arts education began at Abitur, Johannes-Kepler-Gemnasium, University of Stuttgart. She continued pursuing gold-smithing at Fachschule fuer Glas und Schmuck in Neugablonz. She opened her studio in Berlin in 1987 and then established her current studio in San Francisco in 1991. Class’s contemporary aesthetic is evident through her use of brightly colored gemstones, raw, uncut or faceted and set in brilliant yellow gold. Her sculptural style is very recognizable along with her surface treatments. Class has had many solo exhibitions throughout the US as well as many national and international group exhibitions. She most recently received the Excellence in Jewelry award from the Smithsonian Craft show and has been widely published in books and magazines highlighting studio jewelers.
