Light Echoes

2019
Oil and wax on panel
12 x 12 in.
30.5 x 30.5 cm

Lisa Pressman began her studies in ceramics, sculpture, and painting at Douglass College, NJ, where she received a Bachelor of Art. She continued her studies at Bard College and completed an MFA in painting.
Her paintings incorporate oils, collage, wax and other mixed media to create works that allude to a personalized time and space. The work is the physical embodiment of the slow and gradual process of realization and transformation. She creates paintings that draw from the place of “not knowing” and exploration. Her work reveals images that many people have lost sight of, images that communicate to a place deeper than words. The paintings invite a deep, visceral response that evolves over time; they have a life of their own.
Lisa has a BA in Art from Douglass College, Rutgers University and an MFA from Bard College. Her work is exhibited extensively throughout the U.S, and is included in many public and private collections. Her work will be included in “Spaces Between” at Butters Gallery, Or , “A Tangled Web” at Causey Contemporary, NY, NY and has a solo show planned for February 2015 at R&F Handmade Paints in Kingston, NY.
Lisa most recently had a solo show Mapping a Place at Susan Eley Fine Arts, New York, NY and also shows at Telluride Gallery of Fine Art, Telluride, CO. Her work was included in Swept Away: Translucence, Transparence, Transcendence In Contemporary Encaustic, The Hunderton Art Museum, Clinton, NJ (curated by Michael Giaquinto.) In 2013, she had a solo show Inside Matters at Rosenfeld Gallery, Philadelphia, Pa. Her paintings were also exhibited in Nocturnes, curated by Virginia Fabbri Butera, Ph.D. at Therese A. Maloney Art Gallery, College of Saint Elizabeth, Morristown, NJ; Shape Shifting, Susan Eley Fine Art, NYC, New York and Microcosms at Butters Gallery, Portland, Oregon.
